Block friends status updates on facebook
To hide friends status updates on Facebook without deleting them as a friend you have to go with mouse over your friends updates from your wall and click Hide.

Second step is to click Hide [name] button which will hide forever your friend status updates.
To un-hide your facebook friends wall updates is quite simple – go down on wall screen and at the bottom of the page click on Edit Options and after that select your friends who’s updates you want to follow, clicking on Add to News Feed button.
