Scammer: “Hello please let me know if you still have this item on for sale”

These types of responses hot my inbox EVERY time I post a “for sale” ad on CL. Without exception.
I have a general rule when it comes to replies to ads I post on craigslist: delete any reply that does not make direct reference to the item for sale. It’s the most obvious giveaway that it was sent by a bot. Beyond that, I tend to ignore and delete any reply from a web-based email provider, where the username is the least bit suspicious. Example: bambamyoyo4567@hotmail.com. I also tend to ignore and delete any email that appears to have been translated into English by an online service. And, for those whom I respond, I use a Hotmail account, and not my principal email address.
When buying and selling on CL, and other similar sites, you really need to be prudent, even paranoid.

you’re right Phil. Thanks for sharing your methods, good to know how others respond to this garbage…
I actually got the same exact response to a camera ad I put on craigslist too. Damn scammers!
