I have a general rule when it comes to replies to ads I post on craigslist: delete any reply that does not make direct reference to the item for sale. It&#039;s the most obvious giveaway that it was sent by a bot. Beyond that, I tend to ignore and delete any reply from a web-based email provider, where the username is the least bit suspicious. Example: bambamyoyo4567@hotmail.com. I also tend to ignore and delete any email that appears to have been translated into English by an online service. And, for those whom I respond, I use a Hotmail account, and not my principal email address.
When buying and selling on CL, and other similar sites, you really need to be prudent, even paranoid.
