How to access Safe Mode boot with a USB keyboard

I had to work on an old computer these days and I tried to get into safe mode boot method using a USB keyboard. Was unsuccessfully. The problem is only with old systems because on the a new pc’s the USB drivers are loaded from the BIOS.

So, how can you get into Safe Mode using a USB keyboard?
This is the method:

Use Msconfig to get to Safe Mode
If you have trouble using the F8 key, you can use the System Configuration Utility (msconfig) . For this go to Start, click Run and enter:

msconfig

and click on the tab BOOT.INI.

Highlight the operating system listed in the section [operating systems]and check by the entry /SAFEBOOT as shown below. Click the radio button MINIMAL and after that reboot. The system should open in Safe Mode. When finished using Safe Mode, open Msconfig again and remove the check by /SAFEBOOT. Otherwise, you will continue to open in Safe Mode whenever you boot.

Like I said, is possible to have problems to access Safe Mode using the regularly F8 key only on a USB keyboard running old systems. The newer ones has the USB drivers instaled in BIOS so you can use the classic F8 method. On these newer computers press F8 a couple of times during the POST (that black screen that came after you press the START button, till the Andvanced Boot Methods (Safe Mode) is coming out.
