How to remove the text formatting on copy-paste in Outlook

When you copy text from different sources like webpages, other word docs, PDFs or whatever other sources and paste it into your Outlook email, the text will keep the formatting from the original document. I don’t know about you but this have been bothering me for ages.

The regularly workaround (name it workout since is such an effort!) is to go select all text and then remove the format manually. But shouldn’t be there any easy and nice way to have this been done automatically, to have plain text all the time you copy and paste from other documents into your Outlook email?

Having a bit of an extra time these days I started investigating if there is any way to fix this and indeed, so far I found 2 ways. The first one is a temporary one, and is gonna remove the font formatting for only the email you’re writing. The second method is permanent and is the solution I adopted :)

Here they are:

1: Click to create a new email and then go to Options and click on Plain Text. Now copy and paste into your email any text you want, it won’t keep any formatting at all, it will be just plain text.

2: This time just go to Tools / Options / Mail Format / Editor Options / Advanced / Cut, copy and Paste section – change to Keep text Only. After setting this up it may be or may be not removing the text format so just to make sure everything is the way you wanted to be, go click Tools / Options / Mail Format / Compose in this message format: Plain text

From now on you have to be all setup, plain text only every time you copy&paste text into your Outlook email. Just a small note, I was able to do this in Outlook 2007, not sure if possible in other versions or if the same way to fix.

It may be interesting if you have found different workarounds to do this. If so, please share and let’s discuss :)
