How to install slimstat on any website?
Regarding monitoring your website visitors, except the well known web tool – Google Analytics, you can use as well Slimstat, an amazing tool for tracking your website users. It’s free and it’s coming in a handy way of installing.

Slimstat is easy to read/use even for someone from outside of tech world, is very light for browser, user friendly, can be installed on any kind of platform, no matter if you’re using WordPress, Joomla, Modx or other content management system or if you have just a simple , static or not, website. I love it and yet my sister can’t live one single day without taking a look on her photo blog Slimstat statistics.

The installation process is quite simple, all you have to do is to follow close all of these steps and do have access to your cPanel/ftp account. Stay close and read this guide for installing Slimstat:

Preparation phase:

Open up your website cPanel and create a new database especially for Slimstat. Save all data for later on, for the Slimstat installation. Here an easy guide to create a new database using cPanel – check the 3rd step. Now that you have already creating the database wich will be used by Slimstat let’s go to the installation guide.

1. Extract the files from the zip archive and upload the entire slimstat directory to your server. E.g. http://www.example.com/slimstat/.

2. Open up http://www.example.com/slimstat/ in the web browser and follow the instructions displayed on the screen to connect slimStat to its database. Make sure you’re using exactly the same data you used for creating the database!

3. Add this line of JavaScript to your site’s HTML code, in the header section:

<script type="text/javascript" src="/slimstat/?js"></script>

4. That’s it. Load http://www.example.com/slimstat/ in your web browser and start monitoring your website’s users with Slimstat statistics!
