First of all you have to have access to your web domain cPanel. The best part is that almost every web hosting is providing this user interface, named cPanel.

Here all that seven steps for installing WordPress:

1. Search on Google for: WordPress download. Download the latest version. If it’s an archive, extract the files into a new folder.

2. Go to your website FTP and upload all the files and folders belongs to the WordPress into the Public folder. Or, you can use the File Manager from cPanel to upload / extract files directly on server.

3. Go to cPanel. It should be something like this: http://www.yourdomain.com/cpanel. Enter the user name and password. Open MySQL (mine icon is named MySQL Account Maintenance) and Create a new database and create a new user name and assign it a password. Set the Privileges: ALL – this is very important!

4. Open your blog by typing your blog address into the browser.

5. Create a config file where you’ll have to add all the info asked: database name, user name and password (created in step 3).

6. You will receive a WordPress user name and password. Write them down!

7. Welcome to WordPress! Your blog should be now up and running.

Other possible settings: block search engines from indexing your blog (in case you’re planning to add some content first on it), change the default password created by WordPress engine with your preferred one.

A couple of days ago I installed a new application on my iPod Touch, NoteMaster. This iPod Touch / iPhone app is doing a good job with synchronizing my personal “to dos” from my iPod with my Google Docs. This means even if something goes wrong with my iPod and I’m losing all the data, I have the chance to recovery it from my Google Docs.

In order to make working the sync I had to setup the Outgoing Mail Server or, simple, SMTP server on iPod. No matter if you are planning to do the same or you just want to install other similar app you have to type the following data in the requested fields:

1. Host Name: smtp.gmail.com
2. User Name: here you type your gmail address
3. Password: your gmail account password
4. Use SSL: ON
5. Authentication: Password
6. Server Port: 587

The problem: “The plan was to sync pictures onto my Ipod Touch and copy them onto my work computer. I have iTunes on this computer, but can’t find a way to get the pictures onto my work computer.”

If you’re still wondering how to transfer photos from iPod Touch / iPhone to your computer there is a simple way (actually, two ways, depending of your computer settings) to do it and YOU DON’T NEED ANY SOFTWARE! Yes, it’s true, to get the synced photos off, you’ll DON’T need to use a third-party tool.

The Solution(s):
A.
1. Plug in your iPod Touch / iPhone.
2. This will pop-up a new window “Select the program to launch for this action”.
3. Click on Microsoft Scanner and Camera wizard / Next.

4. Select de pictures you wanted transferred to your PC and Click Next, give to the group of pictures a name and choose a place to save this group of pictures.
5. Check Delete pictures from my device after copying them if you want to have this pictures only on your PC.
6. Click Next and all your selected pictures will be transferred from your iPod Touch / iPhone to your PC.

B.
1. Plug in your iPod Touch / iPhone and there will be no such a message “Select the program to launch for this action”. See How to enable “Select the program to launch for this action” message.
2. Go to My Computer and right click on User’s iPod (or User’s iPhone’s I guess for iPhone users).
3. Click on Get Pictures. It will pop up a new window like the following one. Click Next and follow the same steps you get used to follow for transferring files from other devices like a photo camera, etc. This steps are described in the previous method, as well.

This is a real fun stuff. Working in graphic design field you will find this tutorial very important. But this is not only for graphic designers but for everyone who wants to create their font characters. It will take a small amount of time if you have already drawing skills to design a new font. OK, let’s do it!

Press Windows key + R, it will open the run window, type: eudcedit and hit ENTER.
Now you have opened the Private Character Editor windows utility. Go to the B letter lets say, or you can start, as usual with A :) A new window will open and for now your drawing aptitude is on. Draw the letters give them a Save As, one by one, and you’ll have now a new font made by you.

To use it, go on Character Map (START / Programs / Accessories / System Tools) look for All Fonts (Private Characters) and have fun using it :)

I’m not so sure if you can use your created fonts like any others, in word editing programs like Microsoft Word but you can give it a try. If you have a Graphics tablet you can use it for designing your signature as a font, a good replacement for some graphic elements like pictures.

Here’s the solution:
-right click into the MS-DOS console / select all / press ENTER and paste with CTRL+V into the new text document.

Don’t try to copy the console content using CRTL+C. It’s not working!

Right a couples of minutes before to write this article I had an issue: how to go back to the default font size / page view in Firefox after I zoom in ( Ctrl + scroll down) and zoom out (Ctrl + scroll up) for a couple of times.

I really really screw up. My website was looking like a mess. But how to reset in Firefox the web page’s text size to default size? Not easy to solve the problem but after a while I figure it out what is the way you can do it.

You have to press CTRL + 0 (zero) and the page font size and the entire page view in Firefox is coming back to the original size. A great discovery for me and hopefully for you, too :)

Do you see a little face near my blog URL (in front of http)? That is a favicon. You can create a favicon like this entering in Google search bar terms like: create a favicon, favicon generator, favicon from pics, jpeg to favicon, etc.

It will return thousands of results, most of them are online tools so you don’t even need to install a software on your computer. What is really hard to find is a favicon generator which can make favicons with transparent background, which I like the most. Also, you can search for animated favicons if you like that ones. There is another way to create a favicon – using photoshop – the hardest one because you’ll need to crop a picture, to work on colors/luminosity/contrast and other things and after all to save it in favicon format.

The easy method to have the desired favicon is to steal one. You enter in one website and you get in love with it’s favicon. What can you do to have it? To steal a favicon, all you need to do is type “/favicon.ico” after the URL of a website. Will be something like this:

http://www.websiteaddresss.com/favicon.ico

Right click on the image, save as on your folder and copy it in public_html directory on you web server. Sometimes is require to clear your browser cookies/cache prior to see the favicon in the right place :)

Simple, huh? :P
